City In Sunset

HOLA :D
How was your week?

Yesterday, as me and my dad drove home from school, I noticed that the sky turned red-orange as the sun set and thought how beautiful it looked. It gave me an idea ....... a new NAIL ART IDEA :D HOORAH!

I'm not going to do a tutorial on this ... just because ... I felt lazy and I didn't want to stop and take pictures and stuff .... but this is very easy and it can be done without tutorials....

I felt like there was something missing and so I added tiny (eneven -.-) yellow dots on the buildings for windows.

I didn't put any topcoat on this because I replaced it after I took these photos.
I did three nail arts today so that I could create posts now and publish them throughout the next week :)

Check back on Tuesday at 3pm (If you don't have school that day or are brave enough to browse the web during your I.T. class if it's on the same time)

HAHA ... but no, don't browse the web when you're in school. •_•

18th Century Soul

HI EVERYBODY. IT HAS BEEN SOOOOO LONG since I last posted something.

I am genuinely sorry.
I've been so caught up with school and adjusting my schedule.
I barely even get to watch tv :(

Anywhoooo ....
It's the weekend! (OHHH YEYAHHH)
But it's Sunday ... and that makes me sad :( Because it means tomorrow's going to be a school day ... and it will be a school day until Friday and until then, I'm not going to be able to play with my nail babies and read, and watch my favorite movies and blog and stuff :(

Buuut since it's the last day of the two-day break I so scarcely get to make the most of for this week, let's get this post on the go.

Wait, OMG! That reminds me! :D Next week, we're not going to have a class on Friday .... I don't know if I should be bummed out about that or not because I'm really starting to like school again ... but it means that there's a bigger chance of me being able to post more than once! YAY :D

Yesterday, I went on a Period films movie marathon .. and it was AWESOME.

One thing you guys should know about me is that I am absolutely engrossed in everything that's from the 18th Century. It's like, whenever I see movies or posters or costumes or read stuff about back then, I feel this deep connection to it (so cliche') but so true!

Sometimes, I even feel like I'm an 18th Century Soul stuck in this body at present.

But still, I am happy that I'm born in this era though xD

This isn't really going to be long because it's was one of those times where I didn't want to do a tutorial and just carry on with what I'm doing ...... I guess we all experience those times.

Ya'll know what to do first....

RETRIFETCH :D
If you still don't know what that means, scroll down and read my other blog posts :D
I don't need to trim and file .... My nails are so short now T___T

STEP 1. Paint your nails a faint/sheer nude colour. I used my Revlon Barely Peach (polish mini haul post). I brushed on about 4 layers (I know, it's a lot xD)

STEP 2. It's best to brush on a top coat first before stamping ... so that if ever you want to redo a nail, you don't have to paint your base colours on again.

STEP 3. Grab your plate and everything you need that comes along with it and STAMP :D (I forgot what plate I used ... *it's kinda starting to be a habit now* -.- but use the plate with the tiny flowers on it. You'll see what I mean later) or you could find another design that makes you think of the 18th Century :D

It may not look extraordinary and astonishing but it's how pertinent and significant it is to me that makes it matter a lot.

It's how it makes me feel so calm and serene and how it makes me appreciate everything else around me two times more that makes me view it as something more than it really is.

I feel like Elizabeth Bennet or Jane Austen herself now that I have it on my nails xD (LOOOL)

I ruined my right Index Finger though :( Not posting a picture because it looks awful -.-
Didn't want to redo it because I'm planning on wearing this to school because it's not that obvious (nail polish isn't allowed in Ateneo T_T .. I hope they allow it in college though ... ) and if ever I do get caught, then it's going to feel awful redoing this today but having to remove it tomorrow :(

Here are two pictures of some nooby Rose clay work I did.
I apologize for its extreme plainness.

With more practice, I'm sure I'll improve at least a bit, as with my nail art skills. xD

Such noobery. HAHA

Ok, that is all for today :D

Check back next FRIDAY <3

Thanks for reading this.
To the people who kept on viewing my blog even though it's been almost two weeks since I last posted anything .... I am sincerely thankful *cries*

Have a greet week <3

HI ELLYBODY :D

Today's nail art was done last week, actually.
I'm not even wearing it on my nails right now.

It's so sad because I've cut my nails T_T It's super short right now.
I had to do it for school. You can't even wear nail polish in my school T________T.

Buuuuuut anyway, it's the last day of my 2012 summer (Although last Sunday should have been the last .... I was absent last Monday... I didn't feel very well)

I know that it's the Philippines' Independence Day today and I should've made a nail art related to it buuuuut no. I just don't feel like it.

You feel like you like things and you do it.
You don't feel like you like things and you don't.
That's that xD

Moving on :D

I named this post "Pink With A Hint Of Sparkle <3" even though it's completely the other way around.
You'll see what I mean xD

Now this is going to be a very short tutorial.
I don't think the pictures are even going to make you think that it's a tutorial xD

Anywhoooo ...

I forgot to take a picture of the colours and stuff I used and for that, I deeply apologize.

You know these colours from my tiny polish haul but just in case you don't ... the one above is City-Pretty Rose and the one below is Follow Me On Glitter, both from Nicole by OPI.

I used my The Face Shop basecoat, The Face Shop Silver, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Top Coat. I also used a Konad plate (I can't remember what plate number xD) Oh and a tiny dotting tool :D

So okay, first, RETRIFETCH.

Remember? Don't remember?
Well, either way ...

REmove excess nail polish
TRIm nails.
File nails.
ETCHetera. (Harderners and oils)

*STEP 1. Colour all your nails with Follow Me On Glitter EXCEPT FOR YOUR RING FINGER.

*STEP 2. Colour your ring finger with City-Pretty Rose.

*STEP 3. Stamp on a ribbon on your ring finger.

*STEP 4. With a dotting tool, place a tiny dot of silver nail polish in the middle of the ribbon. If you have a rhinestone, then use it instead by placing it in the middle of the ribbon after applying some top coat on it.

*STEP 5. Generously brush on some top coat.

AND YOU'RE DONE!

Here's the final output.

( I JUST LOOOOOOOVE FOLLOW ME ON GLITTER!)
It reminds me of roads though ... hahaha :D

And that is all for today :D

Check back sooon!

Comment below! Tell me what you think and tell me too if you have suggestions or requests :3

NAIL POLISH MINI HAUL

HI YOU GUYS! <3 I'M BACK
Although it's not like I was gone for too long. HAHA

But anyway, I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS POST, I JUST ~AHHHHHHHHH.

You see, when we went on vacation, syempre, di mapigilan ang shopping.
I'm not telling where we went (except for area names), you guess xD

I'M JUST SO EXCITED SO LET'S CUT ALL THE CHATTER AND START THE INTRO SO I CAN BABBLE ABOUT THE POLISHES I BOUGHT.

So ok, we went to Causeway Bay just 4 and a half hours before our flight back home. Yes, we risked missing the flight, all for shopping.

We went to Sogo. I wasn't that happy because THERE WERE NO NAIL POLISH BOOTHS.

I mean, yes, there was Mac and YSL ... but where was OPI, China Glaze, Essie or Zoya? I had been looking forward to the trip mostly because of hopes of buying nail polish that weren't openly available in our country.

It's soooo ironic because OPI has a line dedicated to the country and I'm like WHERE THE HACK IS OPI????? <///3

Turns out, it's in MANNINGS! At Shop B, G/F., 517 Jaffe Road, Causeway Bay <////3 MY HEART JUST .... oh .... but all that's in the past now.

Anyway ... We were about to leave Sogo and near one of the exits, I asked this saleslady from Clarins if the mall sold any OPI although I really thought she didn't know. It's just one of those things you do when you're hopeless. She said no, but fortunately, she knew where to find it! So she told me to go check at Sasa.

Sasa is like Watson's, only a bit different since they mostly sell beauty and health care products.

And Sasa .....was ever so ironically JUST IN FRONT OF SOGO <3
I was sooo excited to go there I was like half walking/running outside the exit.

When we got there, it was kind of a small shop. When you enter the Causeway branch, you see cosmetics first. At the sides are racks of perfume. I felt somewhat cheated and hurt for a millisecond -- before I asked a clerk if they had OPI.

She pointed to my back and said "There."

So anyway, before I even fully turned around, I STARTED JUMPING! UP AND DOWN -- UP AND DOWN with my hands mimicking birds fluttering their wings.

You can tell how super excited I was.

So ok .... I finally stopped acting all fangirl by my mom's request and my eyes focused on a narrow but tall rack of Nicole by OPI.

I don't know how I felt. I guess it was a mixture of satisfaction and disappointment.
Disappointment because it's not the OPI I was looking for.
Satisfaction because ... as long as it's OPI, it'll do. HAHAHA

So Nicole by OPI, a branch of OPI, is dedicated/inspired by Nicole Schaeffer, George Schaeffer's (OPI owner) daughter.
They have so many cute colours. Colours that are really made for teenagers. All sparkly and vibrant and stuff <3 So pretty.

I'm going to show you the 5 Nicole by OPI colours I bought .... but first, I'mmna introduce to you the other 8 colours that I bought at Sasa.

But first, here's a picture of the polishes we're going to go through :)

First on our tiny list are some random polishes I bought ...

L-R:

It's tiny but I like the packaging.

[I tried to blur the edges to emphasize the polish I'm telling you about]
It may not look incredible like that (The practice wheel nail is so long), but trust me, this polish is sooo cute. I didn't put on any base colour so as not to create any bias.

I'm not going to say anymore because along with the magnetic polish below, I'm going to make a separate post about this xD

*MAGIQUE MA213-BROWN MAGNETIC NAIL POLISH

I couldn't find any info or site in the web about it because I'm guessing it's a local Chinese brand [doesn't mean it's fake ..... oh and some time soon, I'm going to make a post about choosing and differentiating fake and original nail polish]

This is my first ever magnetic nail polish. I first saw it in Etude although I have heard about it a long time ago already. I didn't buy one in Etude because .... I don't know, I just didn't feel like it.

I know you can't see it clearly in the picture (That's because  I had to crop it so the pic kinda bursted and I didn't put much effort in making the result as good as it should be ... so, like I said, I'm going to make a separate post about this soon)

But I must say that I really like it .... I'll save all the details for a post about this.

*ELEANOR NAIL ENAMEL ENP012

As you can tell, the packaging is soooo cute! It reminds me of Etude ....

I bought this because it had a very soft pink colour. Opening the bottles weren't allowed and they had no tester so I had no way of knowing if it was any good or not.
I'm not THAT thrilled ....... but I'm not THAT disappointed either ...
2.9 out of 5. That's how I rate this polish.

It's very sheer and watery but after about 2 coats, it'll be all good.
Although, a good thing about it being sheer is that it's so easy to remove!
Nail polish remover with or without acetone .. comes off in a jiffy! :D

Now we move on to Revlon.
I wasn't really going to buy a single colour from Revlon ... AT ALL.
But my mom ...... she grabbed three and I thought that it wasn't a good idea since it's in the Philippines but as I was about to pay, I noticed two pretty colours and I grabbed them immediately xD

L-R:

I know you can't read the two words on the center of the bottle clearly but it's supposed to read "Sheer Translucide" ... it got scratched off.

I really like this colour. It's so elegant and classy. It makes me think of ballet.
It's perfect to wear to school to because it's not too obvious.
I guess the only thing I don't really like about this is that it's really watery and sheer.
But aside from that, this is a really beautiful nail polish.

The swatch looks like I didn't even apply any colour to the nail wheel at all.
That's what I like about it. Plus, it's really good for French Tips :D

I just love love love this nail polish. The name says it all. It's WHIMSICAL. It really is. It makes me think of fairy tales and sparkles.

I am really sorry about the bulging that's going on in the right swatch ._. Like I've said before, I'm no master at painting my base colours.

So the swatch on the left is how it looks like without and base colour. I decided to test it and see how it would look like with a base colour and I grabbed the next closest colour I had to its shade of blue ... (The Face Shop) and that's how it turned out.

I know ... trust me, I do.
It doesn't look very flattering in the picture. (But pictures are just pictures pfftt haha)
But this .... in real life ... it's just ... ugh <3

*REVLON 420 COPPERGLAZE PLATINUM

This is one of my mom's 3 colours from Revlon.  She just loovees browns and platinums.

I don't really know if I see myself wearing this one day. It's just not my type. I mean the colour is just too platinum for my taste. I'm not really one for platinum colours. You know, the ones that shine so bright in the light that sometimes you don't see the colour anymore ... It's an eye sore for me ... I don't know ...

Plus, it's reeeeeeaaaally, really runny.

I kinda hit the polish sideways while it was open for like a SECOND and this is what happened. It's got a really thin viscosity. I don't think I like it very much :[

This, again is another one of the tree colours my mom got. I actually think that I'm going to try wearing this some day. It's not too platinum-y and my mom's wearing it on her fingers right now and I must say that it looks really nice! :D

It's still really runny but with the colour, I think I might get to really liking it. xD

Black? It looks like it, doesn't it?
But no, it's actually a really dark shade of green.

Again ... see clearly, you cannot. HAHA But it's a cool colour. My mom's actually, but maybe I can wear it someday.

And now, IT'S NICOLE BY O.P.I. TIME <3
Hahahaha ... Ok, so I only bought 5 colours :C
I absolutely love the packaging! It's so unique!
It's slanted in the front from the bottom.

L-R:

I just love love love love love this nail polish <3
Plus it has a really pretty name which is great for a pretty colour :D hahaha

It's the one on the center (I know you know)
Again, you may not see it clearly but it's so pretty.
It reminds me of Barbie & the 12 Dancing Princesses <3
I'll show you how it really looks like when I do a nail art using this :D

This colour is somewhat a dupe to my Etude PK002.
I think this colour is very fun and bubbly <3

Plus, it's so flexible. You can wear it any season, may it be summer or spring.
It's so feminine! Hahaha I don't have much more to say just because I really love it and saying more wouldn't do it any justice xD

I really like this even though it's only a clear coat.

I think this is a limited edition colour since it isn't in the Try It On page of OPI.
To use this, you obviously have to brush on a base colour first xD
After doing so, brush this on for design and it's going to be really pretty.
When you use this, you kinda have to dab instead of brush, otherwise, you're not going to have any stars on you nails xD

Guess what colour it is.

Dark purple?

WRONG.
Hahaha. It's actually a dark shade of .... BLUE!

There, it still kinda looks like it's a dark shade of Purple but trust me, it's Blue.
It's really nice actually, it's like black but with a little surprise <3
HAHAHAHA

THIS COLOUR! MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE.
REALLY, IT'S THE BEST COLOUR I HAVE IN MY LITTLE NAIL POLISH COLLECTION.

(Not really shiny in the pic)
BUT IF YOU BRUSH ON SOME TOP COAT ..
DAYNG! THIS COLOUR IS AMAZING <3

It's from the Kardashian line.
It's sooo pretty.

I have it on my nails now (Nail art which will be published a few days after this)
And everytime I do something with my hands, I just can't help but stop and stare at it!
It's just so beautiful!
I can't even find any more words to say how much I love this and I bet it wouldn't even do my feelings justice.

I guess the only thing I regret in this haul is not buying more OPI. It only dawned on me when we got back home that I'm not going to be seeing any OPI in stores for some time soon :(

Oh and please, don't be as stupid and unprepared as I am.

DO RESEARCH.

Never go to some place when you don't know about its culture and stuff. In my case, research where to buy the things you want to buy before going there.

If you've guessed where I went and are planning on going there, remember that OPI is available in most Manning's shops.

Look for it in the internet ...
You'll  see how good it is to research before you go on vacation :D

And this concludes my Mini Haul :D
Comment below and tell me what you think and if you have post requests and suggestions, don't hesitate to tell me :D

Why you should NEVER FORGET TO APPLY A BASE COAT

Girls, please. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Never forget to apply a base coat before painting your nails.

Don't take this semi-clear lacquer for granted. It does so much for your nails. It protects it and if you buy one that does --> nourishes it too.

I remember when I was young and knew nothing about the basics of painting your nails. I didn't use a base coat yet. Over time, my nails would start looking yellow. It even changed the original colour of my nail polish.

It. Was. Horrible.

I think your nails get yellow because of the chemicals in the polish. When my nails went yellow, I used Chic and Bobbie back then. (I'm not saying it has horrible quality, I'm just saying that it probably has something in it that's kinda harmful to your nails.) I was only 13. (I fell in love with this very very faint pink nail polish because it had tiny tiny tiny tiny glitters in them. I think I ought to call it shimmer.) Anyway, you get my point. I was 13 and I loved anything and everything pink. HAHAHA

I never ever wanted anything like that to happen again so I bought one (yaye <3)

When you buy semi-expensive to expensive nail polish, you buy it because it brings quality along with it.
So if you can, buy nail polish that has great quality -- long lasting, anti-chipping and anti-fading nail polish that doesn't carry harmful chemicals that may ruin your pretty little nails.

A friendly reminder from a girl who once had yellow nails. Teehee :D
